my winter knitting

This is small Winter paper about the Jacket in Garter Stitch I have mentioned in two previous posts.
My Cristmas present was this pin which is designed for the jacket.
The brooch reminds me of a small ship.

I have recently borrowed two of Vibeke Lind's books, and I am looking forward to Spring Knitting in her knitting universe.

  1. I have the Knitting in the Nordic Tradition, though in English of course. There are some lovely ideas in in. And your jacket is very handsome, with the little boat pin for it.

  5. Oh Mette that is fabulous! I love the shoulders so much. And the pin is perfect. Lucky you. I look forward to seeing the spring projects. I'm knitting some hats right now and long to dive into a sweater.

  6. This is a spectacular jacket! Did you follow the pattern as written? I'm in the USA--is the pattern in one of Lind's books? If not, do you know where I can find it? I live in Wisconsin, Elizabeth Zimmerman's US home and home of Meg Swansen. The jacket certainly looks like one in Elizabeth's spirit--or maybe in the Scandinavian spirit! I was in Copenhagen at Christmas time (my daughter was studying there for a semester) and the yarn shops were always closed when I arrived. Either too late in the afternoon or just before or after Christmas. I was very disappointed.

    1. Hi Gail..You are so right. This is in Mrs EZ' spirit. I did the pattern as written- which is in Danish. The jacket is not in Lind' s book, however I just wanted to show the rest of the world this beautiful piece of knitting.

  7. Would you know where I could purchase the pattern in Danish? I could have someone here translate it for me. Madison Wisconsin, being the home of a very large university, is quite international. I REALLY love this jacket and want to make it, with hand spun yarn I purchased in Lund, Sweden.
    Thanks!

    1. Hi Gail
The pattern is only available as a kit. It was designed for Hanne Vedel' s wool/ silk yarn. Vibeke Lind's book "Strik på maskine og i hånden" has several patterns which would be perfect for your handspun.

  8. Thanks for your reply and information. If the kit is sold in a yarn shop in Copenhagen, I could have a friend purchase it for me, or I could contact the yarn shop directly and have them mail it to me. Meanwhile, I will look at Hanne Vedel's website to see if it is available to order from there. Thanks.
