A new year and a new project.
I often wonder what makes me prefer one pattern to another. There are hundreds of different circular shawls to knit based on Elizabeth Zimmerman´s Pi-construction. But I have chosen Jared Flood´s new pattern called Girasole.. The pattern has two options. You can either knit it as a blanket or a shawl. I have already done a blanket based on an old doily, The Hemlock Ring, so I will go for the shawl. What is important to me is how the designer has solved the problem of the transitions between the collection of patterns. In this case I love the interaction between the leaf and the zigzag- eyelets. Can´t wait to see that part blocked.
I am using a Danish yarn, Isager´s Tvinni. Most of my knitting life I have done so many cardigans ,with which I have kept several anniversaries, in that wool. It is rough but I know it will wear for many years.
